Here is the Eva Lindqvist interview, breeder in Sweden with the kennel name ofNikkett's.

How did you met the breed?

I started to breed Bichon Frisé 1991 and came across a book about the bichon Breeds. For the first time I saw a picture of a coton and I was totaly in love- I just hade to have one.

Who were your first Cotons?

In 1991 there were just a couple of imported cotons in Sweden. In 1994 a breeder had a litter of cotonpuppies from her imported cotons from Du Fond De La Chenaies kennel. and I was lucky to get my first femalecoton puppie Sörreds Paraiso Svedois Désére. Having a coton in the house changed a lot of things I was totaly in love and I quit breeding bichon Frisé to concentrate on one breed the Coton de Tuléar.
I got the virus- the true cotonvirus and I felt like I wanted to know everything about this lovley breed. Me and my breedingfriend Monica B Azmirs kennel planned our trip to France to see more cotons and speak to experianced breeder to educate ourself and perhaps find what we were looking for.
We did not get dissapointed. One of the kennels we visit was Brigitte Dammans Cartoonlands kennel and both me and Monica thought after seeing Brigitte Dammans dogs- this is how we want the cotons to look and act. clowns with the most beautiful expression. We got the chance to buy her wonderful male Cartoonlands Lord de Lainville that became the foundation of both me and Monicas kennel. He is today 8 years old and still acting like a puppy.
.

Can you explain the choice of your kennel name?

The choice of my kennelname came by itself. My first Bichon Frisé was named Nikki- so Nikkett´s kennel was born.

Which qualities do you favor in a Coton?

I have to copy what most of the breeder has answered on this question.
Health
Temperament
Structure
I would like to make all of them NUMBER ONE

What are your criteria for selection in your breeding program?

Same answers as the question above.

Can you describe the "ideal" Coton ?

A beautiful full coated clownish coton that moves with pride and welcomes you with tons of kisses.

When you're breeding, what are the éléments you're taking into account to choose the dam and the sire ?

Trying NOT to put together two dogs with the same faults. Also trying NOT to breed with too much difference in size.
