The United State of America Coton de Tulear Club, Inc.

The USACTC, Inc. was established in 1994 by Leon and Helga Lopatin as the only American Coton de Tulear Breed Club that supported the internationally recognized, F.C.I. standard and one that supports the showing of Cotons in conformation shows. Recognizing a need for this sort of organization in the United States, they were truly the foundation of our club. Fortunately, before the popularity of the breed exploded, the club was well seated and firmly established as the Parent breed club for the Coton. We are pleased to state that we are the only recognized Parent Breed Club for the Coton de Tulear in the United States with both the American Rare Breed Association and States Kennel Club.

The USACTC, Inc. is the only democratic organization in the Coton world here in America, with the club truly being by the members and for the members. Dedicated to preserving and protecting the future of the breed, the USACTC, Inc. has many things to offer to the veteran Coton owner as well as those new to the breed. We publish a quarterly, color newsletter that features breed specific information, many articles on canine care and well being, lots of photos of member Cotons along with many other points of interest. In addition to the quarterly publication, the Coton Courier, the USACTC, Inc. offers:

  • Coton Registry – 4 generation pedigree, offering consultation to breeders with regard to co-efficient of inbreeding percentages of proposed breeding, particular gene percent contribution of ancestors, etc.
  • Source of Advertisement for breeders in both the U.S. and Europe
  • We follow the World recognized Federation Cynologique Internationale Coton de Tulear breed standard.
  • Informational packets on the Coton are provided to new members and to those who request information
  • Breeder’s Directory of Code of Ethics Breeders
  • Code of Ethics devised to promote healthful breeding practices
  • Coton Rescue

Web site that has up to date club information, articles on the Coton, online Code of Ethics Breeder’s directory, and much other timely, necessary information on both the breed and the club. Visit us online at www.usactc.org

The club is currently in the process of establishing a DNA registration service to further serve the membership. The board believes that this service will further cement the validity of our registry. The club has general elections every 2 years, with every member given opportunity to serve the club. Each member has opportunity to see their dog "in the limelight", featured either on our website or in the Courier. All photos are displayed proudly of member’s dogs
